Fan conventions

Read this article on FAN CONVENTIONS from The Hollywood Reporter. What is your opinion on fan conventions? Are they necessary? Do they benefit the fans? The culture? The intellectual properties(movies, TV shows, etc)? What is the alternative? Cite at least one interesting fact you learned from the article within your blog response.

Canadian Heritage Minutes

The Canadian Heritage Minutes are a series of sixty-second short films, each illustrating an important moment in Canadian history. A 2012 Ipsos Reid poll of 3,900 Canadians selected the five most popular Minutes. Tied for first place were the episodes on Jackie Robinson and the Halifax Explosion, followed by Jennie Kidd Trout, Winnie-the-Pooh and Laura Secord. Child Actor

Profile one child actor who made it through their fame and faced negative effects (post-success troubles). Reflect on the ordeals of that star and your thoughts on child stars in general. Child Actors in Hollywood: Child endangerment? Now that you have considered Child Actors in Hollywood and discussed it in small groups you are asked to consider the following: Are parents who encourage their children to participate in major Hollywood television/films taking too large a risk (or even endangering their own children)? Perhaps you may also want to consider: How can children be protected in this system? Warning: Some of your research may uncover child sex abuse cases in Hollywood. You are not required to read anything you find disturbing. You can adequately respond to the question by focusing on other areas such as financial exploitation, post-success struggles, drug abuse, etc.
